How to restore and protect wooden furniture

Comment rénover et protéger le mobilier en bois

Cleaning: an essential step! When your furniture starts to look grey, sometimes even blackened and stained by grease, wine, or bad weather, there’s a simple and highly effective solution to restore the wood—bringing back its original color, feel, and appearance.

This even works for very old furniture that hasn’t been maintained for years and seemed beyond repair.

The STARBRITE Exotic Wood Protector is THE solution. This product is effective on all types of exotic or softwood. It also removes any leftover oils that may have been previously applied.

How to apply the Wood Cleaner & Brightener

Lightly dampen the surface to be treated, or apply the pure Cleaner & Brightener directly to dry wood if it is very dirty and grey.

Let it work for 1-2 minutes, making sure the product does not dry out, then scrub with stainless steel wool.

This process is very messy. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water to completely remove the product from the treated surface.

Allow to dry completely.

Repeat the process if necessary or on any remaining stained areas.

Wait until the wood is COMPLETELY DRY before applying the Starbrite Protector.

Precautions for use: Carefully protect any metal or painted parts near the areas to be treated.

Recommended tools:

Stainless steel wool or a stiff-bristled hand brush.

How to apply Starbrite Wood Protector

Once the wood is perfectly dry, with the grain open and free from dirt or dust, you can apply the exotic wood saturator protector.

Shake well or mix the container before use.

Work in small sections, making sure to spread the Protector evenly using as little product as possible.

The effectiveness and durability depend on how well the Starbrite Wood Protector/Saturator penetrates the wood fibers. The Protector/Saturator is dry to the touch in about 30 minutes at an average ambient temperature of 18/20°C. If not, wipe off any excess with a cloth.

Keep the furniture sheltered from rain for 24 hours to allow the Protector to fully cure.

Recommended tools:

Disposable foam brushes or a clean cotton cloth.

Tips

Store your chairs, armchairs, benches, and other accessories indoors during winter. They will only need maintenance every three years on average.

You’ll only need to refinish the tabletop once a year—no more than an hour’s work! Avoid covering your tabletop without ventilation to prevent any risk of mold.

Quality furniture is designed to stay outdoors all year round.
